Cookies
Cookies are small text files that websites store in your browser. We use them, and similar technology such as local storage, to make the site work, to remember your choices and, with your consent, to understand how the site is used and to measure ad performance. Below is a complete list of everything verklagnir.is stores in your browser and what it is for. This policy forms part of our Privacy Policy and is based on the Electronic Communications Act No. 70/2022 and the Data Protection Act No. 90/2018.
Which categories do we use?
- Necessary
Needed for the site to work, for example to remember your cookie choice, keep you signed in or keep a form draft. These are always set and do not require consent.
- Analytics
Help us understand how the site is used, for example which pages are read most. Set only with your consent.
- Marketing
Measure whether a visit comes from an ad and how ads perform on Google and Meta (Facebook and Instagram). Set only with your consent.
Your choice
The first time you visit we ask whether you allow cookies. Analytics and marketing cookies are not set until you accept them, and the Meta Pixel is not loaded until then. Necessary cookies are always set; the site does not work without them. You can withdraw your consent at any time as easily as you gave it.

Third-party content
Some pages fetch content directly from a third party. That party then receives your IP address and browser technical data and may set its own cookies, which we do not control. The policies of those parties apply.
- Google Maps. The map on location pages is provided by Google. It loads automatically when you accept cookies. If you have declined cookies, the map does not load and we tell you so. You can then choose “Show map” to load that one map, or “Open in Google Maps”. When the map loads, Google receives your IP address and may set its own cookies. Below the map is a link to your cookie settings.
- YouTube. Videos are loaded from youtube-nocookie.com, which does not set cookies until you play the video.
- Esri. Satellite map tiles in the service-request address map are fetched from Esri.
- Bunny.net. Images, videos and files are delivered through Bunny.net’s content delivery network (CDN). No cookies are set, but your IP address is received.
When Google and Meta receive data
Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel are not loaded until you accept cookies. Until then Google and Meta receive no analytics or marketing requests from the site. When you accept, the tools are loaded and Google Consent Mode is updated.
Managing cookies in your browser
You can delete or block cookies at any time in your browser settings, and clear local storage. Note that this also erases the choice above, so the site will ask again. If you block necessary cookies, some parts of the site, such as sign-in and forms, may stop working.
