Heat pump subsidy
Homeowners with direct electric heating can receive a one-time payment from the Environmental and Energy Authority when switching to a more environmentally friendly energy source, such as a heat pump. The application and all requirements are available at uos.is.
The subsidy for environmentally friendly energy generation is provided by the Environmental and Energy Agency to residential property owners who receive a subsidy for direct electric heating. The subsidy is intended to facilitate the switch to environmentally friendly energy sources or measures that improve energy efficiency in home heating.
A heat pump utilizes electricity many times more efficiently than direct electric heating, thereby reducing both the initial cost and future energy bills. The subsidy itself is handled entirely by the Environmental and Energy Authority, and we are not involved in the processing of applications.

What is included in the subsidy?
The subsidy is calculated based on the purchase of the equipment and the material costs for its installation. Half of that cost is reimbursed, excluding VAT, up to a maximum of 1,567,000 kr.
How does this work?
In simple terms, the process looks like this. The exact conditions, data, and processing are handled by the Environmental and Energy Agency.
Check your eligibility
Is the property heated by direct electric heating and does it receive a subsidy? Then the property is likely eligible for the lump-sum payment.
Choose a solution and get a quote
The grant is based on material costs, so a quote for equipment and installation is the foundation of the application. Contact us for advice on selecting a heat pump.
Apply at the Environmental and Energy Agency
The application is submitted at gagnaform.uos.is. The agreement is valid for 15 years and is tied to the property; after that period, an application for a comparable subsidy for the same property may be submitted.
